The author grew up in a rural community in a corner of the world where Kentucky meets Virginia. Fireflies were called “lightning bugs,” the call for supper was the ringing of the dinner bell, not the ringing of a cell phone, a favorite meal was pinto beans, wilted lettuce with green onions, cornbread and a glass of buttermilk. Kids played up and down the “holler” until dark with no worries.
She attended a one room school for the first eight years, then walked out of the “holler” to ride the bus across the state line to Virginia for the next four years of high school. She had a passion for learning and went on to earn a master’s degree in elementary education and taught school for thirty (30) years before retiring.
She and her husband live in east Tennessee. She has two (2) beautiful daughters and three (3) grandsons who are the delight of her life. She also has a second family including two stepsons, daughters-in-law, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild who add joy to her life.
She has written many songs, poems and stories but this is her first publication.
Her next book, The Shelter Dog, dealing with abandonment/separation issues, will soon be released.
